News of the Farm
9/3/2010 Wow, Labor Day weekend already. Feel the crisp in the air...
We will be at the Issaquah Farmer's Market this Saturday September 4th.
This is full harvest season - we have lots of summer squash of several varieties; pickling, eating and lemon cucumbers; cherry and large tomatoes; fingerling, red and yukon potatoes; carrots, beets; Nardello sweet peppers, Anaheim, jalapeno and cayenne chili peppers; red cabbage and oriental eggplant. The artichokes are small and delicious. We also have basil, swiss chard, kale, garlic and leeks.
The spaghetti squash are nearly ready for harvesting.
We will bring some shallots to the market, too.
No green beans this year - the deer ate them all. Also, no sweet corn as it did not sprout in our cold wet June.
There's been a bear on the Farm this week, probably looking for berries.
The blackberries are ripe and ready for picking.
That's it for this update; more news as the season progresses.
