News of the Farm
03/05/10 Spring is here early! The forsythia and daffodils at the farm are in full bloom!

The garlic is up in the field, and looking great! It's time for the first feeding of high nitrogen organic fertilizer.
Our planting and transplanting spreadsheet is filled out and already in use for the season.
The artichokes are growing in pots, as are the shallots and leeks. They will be transplanted out in a few weeks.
Peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and the first lettuce are also up in flats. We may try lettuce in the greenhouse, or just plant some outside early. The first pea pods will be planted this weekend.
Fruit trees have been pruned and are ready to bloom. The blueberry bushes also are growing well, and will be fed soon - they prefer acidic soil.
We have new stock of Red Chili Sauce from last year's harvest, bottled at Wolf Pack in Gold Bar.
We are working hard on our barn apartment - Dave's there most evenings and we're both there on most weekends. Insulation comes next week, then drywall and paint!
That's it for this update; more news as the season progresses.
